05/01/2011 (Agence Europe) - EU-Micronesia partnership agreement. On 13 December, the EU Council of Ministers adopted a decision on the provisional application of the protocol to the fisheries partnership agreement between the European Community and the Federated States of Micronesia. The agreement was concluded in 2006. The protocol setting out the fishing opportunities and financial contribution provided for in the partnership agreement expired on 25 February 2010. In order to guarantee the rapid resumption of fishing activities by EU vessels, the protocol should be applied rapidly. The Council also adopted a regulation on the allocation of the fishing opportunities under this agreement: - tuna seiners (Spain five vessels, France one vessel); - surface longliners (Spain 12 vessels).
