05/01/2011 (Agence Europe) - Rise in industrial new orders in October 2010. According to estimates published by Eurostat on Wednesday 5 January, the euro area industrial new orders index rose by 1.4% in October 2010 compared with September 2010. In September, the index fell by 4.2%. In the EU27, new orders increased by 0.6% in October 2010, after a decrease of 2.5% in September. Excluding ships, railway and aerospace equipment, for which changes tend to be more volatile, industrial new orders increased by 0.9% in the euro area and by 0.8% in the EU27. In October 2010 compared with October 2009, industrial new orders grew by 14.8% in the euro area and by 14.3% in the EU27. Total industry excluding ships, railway & aerospace equipment rose by 14.4% in both zones. (Com-O.L./transl.rt)
