07/12/2010 (Agence Europe) - Paris - Charles de Gaulle and Paris-Orly climb scale of clean airports. On Monday 6 December, European Transport Commissioner Siim Kallas, in the presence of Olivier Jankovec, ACI-Europe Secretary General, awarded an Airport Carbon Accreditation certificate of progress from the Airports Council International (ACI-Europe) (see EUROPE 10244) for efforts achieved by two airports in the aim of reducing their greenhouse gas emissions (CO2). “In 2004, we produced 125,000 tonnes of CO2 emissions. Today, our carbon emissions are below 100,000 tonnes”, said Pierre Graff, who is president and director general of the airports of Paris. Both airports have risen to the second of four accreditation levels foreseen by the programme. (A.By./transl.jl)
