12/11/2010 (Agence Europe) - Seventh survey on life sciences and biofuels. Fifty-three percent of the Europeans who took part in the survey believe that biotechnology will have a positive effect in the future, compared to 20% who believe the opposite, according to a new Eurobarometer survey on life sciences and biofuels. This seventh Eurobarometer survey on the subject, which was published on Thursday 11 November, shows that the public believe in innovations in the field of life sciences, but also revealed certain gaps in knowledge. Most respondents had never heard of certain areas covered by the survey, such as nanotechnology (55%), biobanks (67%), and synthetic biology (83%). (A.By./trans.fl)
