26/10/2010 (Agence Europe) - The European Coordination Via Campesina (ECVC) is to hold a conference on Wednesday 27 October on the future of Europe's common agricultural and food policy and the challenges this policy faces. “The main objectives of the conference are to raise public awareness about the key issues around the reform of the CAP post-2013 and its impact on the lives of European citizens, while promoting alternative political paths to the existing CAP”, a press release from Via Campesina states, also saying there is an urgent need to change the current political framework to establish another based on food sovereignty. Participants at the conference include Dacian Cioloº, European Agriculture Commissioner, and Sabine Laruelle, Belgian Agriculture Minister. (L.C./transl.jl)
