Brussels, 14/10/2010 (Agence Europe) - The working groups of a conference of experts dedicated to local sport participation, social inclusion and the fight against poverty have submitted a list of recommendations to the Belgian Presidency. These will be presented during the informal meeting of European sports ministers on the 21 and 22 October in Antwerp. These recommendations underline that: 1) sport should be further combined with other political domains, including employment and social affairs; 2) the follow-up and assessment of existing practices are very important; 3) there should be additional focus on organising sport differently, which is more adapted to demand; 4) targeted, successful and enthusiastic communication is crucial for more active involvement of specific target groups. In addition to sport's added value for personal development and the social integration of individuals, the conference also looked at methods for convincing people to get more involved.
