Commission calls on member states to make wider use of mediation in cross-border disputes

Brussels, 24/08/2010 (Agence Europe) - On 20 August, the European Commission highlighted the potential of existing EU-rules on mediation in cross-border legal disputes, reminding member states that these measures can only be effective if put in place at national level. EU rules on mediation came into force in May 2008, and have to be in place by May 2011. For the moment, only four countries (Estonia, France, Italy and Portugal) have informed the Commission that they have implemented the...
