Brussels, 14/07/2010 (Agence Europe) - The “industry, energy and research” committee at the European Parliament gave its approval on Tuesday, 13 July to the compromise obtained at the trialogue with the Council and the Commission on the draft regulation on gas supply security, which aims to strengthen the current Community system based on directive 2004/67/EC. Last March, the Parliamentary committee defined its position on the basis of a draft text amended through the report by Alejo Vidal-Quadras (EPP, Spain). The draft regulation approved on Tuesday includes national preventive plans, emergency measures, as well as an important chapter on consumer protection (for further details on the text amended by the Vidal-Quadras report, please see EUROPE 10169).
