Brussels, 18/06/2010 (Agence Europe) - By levying reduced VAT (5.5%) for work by lawyers at the “Conseil d'État” and “Cour de Cassation” courts in France and to solicitors paid by the state to provide legal aid, France infringed its duties under EU Directive 2006/112/EC (the VAT Directive), the European Court of Justice decided on Thursday 17 June, ruling on Case C-492/08 - an appeal case lodged by the European Commission.
