03/05/2010 (Agence Europe) - US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton has promised to look into the issue of visa reciprocity with Poland, Polish Foreign Minister Rados³ow Sikorskiow Sikorski said on Thursday 29 April, following a visit to Washington. Sikorski told Clinton that his country was the only one in the Schengen area whose citizens still needed a visa to travel to the US. “She promised to ask the American consular services to look into this issue again,” the Krakow Post reports him as saying. For the time being, the United States should grant more visas to Polish citizens, but at the same time, Polish citizens should not overstay their visas. To hope to qualify for the US visa waiver program (VWP) Poland must fall below the 10% threshold of visa applications rejected. The figure currently stands at 13%. (B.C./transl.rt)
