Agriculture committee takes stance in favour of stepping up inspections and penalties

Brussels, 19/03/2010 (Agence Europe) - On Wednesday 17 March, the European Parliament's agriculture committee said that EU animal welfare rules must be more rigorously enforced. It adopted by 37 votes to 7 and 3 abstentions the report by Marit Paulsen (ALDE, Sweden), which concludes that the animal welfare plan for 2006-2010 has been satisfactorily implemented.
