Brussels, 17/02/2010 (Agence Europe) - On Wednesday 17 February, the European Commission decided to appoint João Vale de Almeida at the head of the European Union delegation to the United States. He will begin his work in Washington in the next few months, when the local authorisation procedures are completed. This post has been vacant since the departure of his predecessor, Mr John Bruton, at the end of October 2009.
