17/02/2010 (Agence Europe) - The European Economic and Social Committee (EESC) is meeting in plenary in Brussels on Wednesday 17 and Thursday 18 February. On Thursday, the EESC is holding a debate on the role of the economic and social councils (ESC) and similar institutions in the Union for the Mediterranean. It will be attended by presidents and representatives of the ESC and institutions of UfM partner countries. The EESC will among other things adopt six own initiative opinions on: (1) the impact of economic partnership agreements on very outlying regions (Caribbean area); (2) the Lisbon agenda and the internal market; (3) integration of the social agenda; (4) the future strategy for the European dairy sector for the period 2010-2015 and beyond; (5) agriculture in Euro-Mediterranean partnership; and (6) EU/Morocco relations.
