29/01/2010 (Agence Europe) - The European Investment Bank (EIB) has decided to contribute to the promotion of “green cities” in Greece by granting a loan of €50 million to the town of Heraklion, in Crete. The projects financed will be focused on local development with a view to improving the quality of life of residents and visitors. They will mainly cover public areas, road safety measures, environmental protection, cultural heritage and municipal buildings, which are all priorities of the municipality's “Green Heraklion 2008-2013” urban development programme.
