Brussels, 09/12/2009 (Agence Europe) - At their latest meeting on Tuesday 8 December, following a raft of earlier talks, the EU and Norway were unable to reach agreement on fishing arrangements for 2010, largely due to the quotas for mackerel fishing in Norway's seas. The main sticking point is Norway's decision to have a total allowable catch (TAC) of 35,000 tonnes of mackerel in 2010, which would not leave enough fish for the EU to have its usual 35,000 tonne TAC.
