Brussels, 30/11/2009 (Agence Europe) - In a secret ballot in January 2010, the European Parliament will be electing the next European Ombudsman for a five-year term of office. A shortlist of three candidates was quizzed by the EP's petitions committee on Monday 30 November. They stressed ways of making the EU institutions more transparent, the need to improve cooperation between the EP and the Ombudsman and making the Ombudsman's work more visible.
