24/11/2009 (Agence Europe) - MEPs rejected by 651 votes to 9 and 7 abstentions the proposals for a Council framework decision on the accreditation of police forensic laboratory activities, which was the subject of the report by British Conservative member Timothy Kirkhope. The proposal was rejected for the same reasons as the other reports that day (Europol, European Crime Prevention Network). The draft framework decision aims to ensure that the results of activity by police forensic laboratories accredited in one member state be recognised equivalent to police forensic laboratories accredited according to the same norms and standards in another member state (EUROPE 10005).
