Commission unveils draft legislation to further strengthen financial supervision in Europe

Brussels, 26/10/2009 (Agence Europe) - After publishing a raft of draft legislation on 23 September 2009 to boost financial supervision in Europe (see EUROPE 9980 and 9983), including the creation of a European System of Financial Supervisors with three new European Supervisory Authorities, the European Commission unveiled new proposals on Monday 26 October 2009 to make targeted changes to existing financial services legislation to ensure that the new authorities can work effectively.
