Brussels, 20/10/2009 (Agence Europe) - The participants at a round table organised by the European Commission's DG Competition published a statement on Tuesday 20 October 2009, setting out principles that could be used to govern online music sales. They focus on improving cooperation among collection companies managing royalty payments in the member states. The Commission says that the failure to share information among these companies is a current obstacle to the freedom to supply services or even the freedom of establishment in the member states. The roundtable, chaired by EU Competition Commissioner Neelie Kroes, was attended by Amazon, BEUC, EMI, iTunes, Nokia; PRS for Music, SACEM, STIM and Universal.
