THE DAY IN POLITICS / (eu) ep/plenary sessions

13/07/2009 (Agence Europe) - In an effort to accommodate the newly elected MEPs at the European Parliament, the city of Strasbourg has created an exceptional and unprecedented measure. For the very first time, the city has set up permanent premises in offices at the Brussels Assembly. This initiative is aimed at providing information to MEPs and their assistants regarding the logistical details of their periods spent in Strasbourg (transport, accommodation, cultural activities etc). Newly elected MEPs will receive a welcome kit about the city and its activities in the 23 official languages of the Union. The city of Strasbourg permanent office will also aim to better prepare future sittings. During the first plenary session, which began on 14 July, the city will again be decked out in the colours of Europe; a measure that will be extended to the next sessions in September and October.
