06/05/2003 (Agence Europe) - On Wednesday the Greek Presidency will be unveiling to the EU Member States' Permanent Representatives Committee (COREPER) a draft compromise on reforming the terms and conditions for public servants of the EU based on the conclusion of the 19 March 2003 General Affairs Council (see Europe of 21 March). Giving the very tense situation regarding employers and staff in the European Institutions, the Presidency is not expected to accept the very strict budget demands made by most delegations in terms of staff pay and pensions (see Europe of 11 and 12 April 2003). The Presidency is determined to reach political agreement on this issue at the 19 May General Affairs Council.
