Brussels, 06/05/2003 (Agence Europe) - Meeting in Malta last weekend, the 32 member parties of the European Federation of Green Parties decided to launch a common European election campaign for the June 2004 elections with a common campaign (yet to be decided upon). A coordination committee will be set up at a meeting in Brussels on 23 June. In the future, the federation will be known as the European Green Party and a re-naming ceremony will be held in Rome on 22 February 2004, the date when the Greens will launch their election campaign. A new management committee was elected in Malta, comprising two spokespeople, the former Finnish environment minister Pekka Haavisto and the former leader of the Italian Greens, Grazia Francescato. Arnold Cassola of Malta was confirmed at General Secretary as well as Outi Hannula (Finland) as treasurer.
