THE DAY IN POLITICS / (eu) ep/greens/italian radicals

29/10/2001 (Agence Europe) - Italian Radicals elected on the Lista Bonino to the European Parliament have denied that our information regarding the Greens/EFA refusing to join them, was true (see EUROPE 26 October, page 4). An EFA press release claimed that no such request had been made to the Greens although "an initiative by Daniel Cohn-Bendit" was followed by, "the respective delegations meeting up formally for an initial exchange of views", which would have allowed for the Greens/EFA to, "begin a phase in negotiations with those elected on the Lista bonio". The press release also claimed that during their meeting last Wednesday in Strasbourg, the Greens had experienced "a really collective psychodrama". The Radicals declared that what they were interested in was whether Daniel Cohn-Bendit from the Green-Ecologist group would have a "liberal and libertarian approach" and that the initiative of their colleague was not considered as "already being buried".
