01/06/2001 (Agence Europe) - The European Commission is organising from 5 to 7 June a public hearing on the Green Paper relating to the future of the Common Fisheries Policy (CFP). Commissioner Franz Fischler will open the hearing. The programme foresees the following debates: (1) Tuesday morning: - resource management, with an introduction by Mr Fuertes Gamundi (Ship Owners Trade Union - France); - fleet policy, with Mr Langstraat (Stichting van de Nederlandse Visserij): (2) Tuesday afternoon: - monitoring and control, with Mr Doyle (Irish Fisherman's organisation); - conservation in the Mediterranean, with Mr Iani (Legapesca); (3) Wednesday morning: - governance, with Mr Johannson (Sveriges Kiskares Riksforbund); - fish farming and processing, with Mr Coffrey (Institute for European Environmental Policy)l; (4) Wednesday afternoon: social and economic dimension of CFP, with Mr Chagas (European transport workers federation) (5) Thursday morning: external dimension of CFP, with an introduction by Mr Dion (Ship Owners Trade Union - France).
