16/05/2001 (Agence Europe) - The European Union obviously does not want anything to do with the idea proposed in Belgrade to organise a regional conference on borders and minorities. Commissioner Chris Patten, like Javier Solana and most of the Member States, are not very enthusiastic about the idea of such a conference, Community sources say, considering that, "though the intention may be good, questions could be raised". Yugoslav sources stress that the idea, proposed by Foreign Minister Goran Svilanovic a few weeks ago, has still to be "clarified" in detail.
