The French franchised catering group (in stations, motorways and museums) ELIOR has just concluded two agreements in Spain, one in the franchise catering with the largest Spanish AREAS and the other in collective catering with SERUNION, third largest in Spain. More specifically, ELIOR will regroup within AREAS (annual turnover of EUR 238 million) its Spanish and Mexican activities in commercial catering, franchised in airports (turnover of EUR 73 million in 2000). ELIOR thus holds 60% of AREAS. At the same time, ELIOR will contribute its collective catering activities in Spain (OSESA and MEDITERRANEA DE RESTAURANTES which have a turnover of EUR 74 million with 748 restaurants) to SERUNION. ELIOR will then hold 41% of the share in the enlarged company. While, AREAS has just launched a take-over bid for the Mexican LATINO AMERICANA DE DUTY FREE (annual turnover of EUR 91 million), leader in the local market from the tax free sales in airports with 1,390 sales points.
