08/02/2001 (Agence Europe) - On the initiative of Herman Hulsof, President of the COTANCE (Confederation of National Associations of Tanner and Dresser in the European Union), Turgurt Kosar, President of the Turkish Leather Industry Association, took part, on 2 February, in the COTANCE Council that took place in Brussels, and presented on this occasion the Turkish candidacy for accession as an associate member of the organisation. A decision on this issue will be taken by the COTANCE General Assembly, next 16 June in Glasgow. In Brussels Mr Kosar underlined that, since the EU/Turkey customs union, Turkish tanners benefit from the same conditions for access to the Community market as their EU counterparts.
