EIB grants new loan to Syria

Brussels, 08/02/2001 (Agence Europe) - On Wednesday the EIB decided to grant a new loan, for a total of EUR 115 million, to the Arab Republic of Syria, in favour of the modernisation of its electricity distribution network. In a press release, it notes that this bears witness "to the EIB's firm intention to further support Syrian economic development."
