- Turkey: the Turkish Government is to increase the stake to be privatized in the Turkish national operator TURK TELEKOM from 20 to 34%. 29% of the capital will be privatized in a single block and 5% proposed to individuals in a call for bids, the date of which has not yet been set. - Brazil: the government of the Brazilian state of Sao Paulo is to sell a 38.7% stake in the electricity producer CESP - CIA ENERGETICA DE DAO PAULO for at least 1.7 bn reals. Eight companies are said to have already shown an interest in this sale; these are: America's AES, DUKE ENERGY, SOUTHERN CO, AMERICAN ELECTRIC POWER CO, Portugal's EDP, Belgium's TRACTEBEL, France's TOTALFINAELF, as well as Brazil's VBC ENERGIA.
