Strasbourg, 10/10/2000 (Agence Europe) - The Secretary General of the Council of Europe, Walter Schwimmer, has invited President Kostunica to participate in the next meeting of the Organisation's Committee of Ministers, in Strasbourg on 8 November. "Like the fall of the Berlin Wall, the victory of democracy in Yugoslavia opens up a new era", declared Mr. Schwimmer, appealing with all his heart for the immediate setting up of a Council of Europe and European Union Task Force to help the country in its transition towards democracy. "Milosevic lost in the way dictators always lose: in total disgrace, hated by his own people and despised by the world", the President of the Council of Europe's Parliamentary Assembly, Lord Russell-Johnston, declared, noting that Milosevic was leaving behind him "a heritage that needs dismantling, patiently and democratically, but also exhaustively and irreversibly".
