European conference Against Racism

Brussels, 10/10/2000 (Agence Europe) - "All different, all equal: from theory to practice - European contribution to the World Conference against Racism, Racial Discrimination, Xenophobia and Intolerance": this is the subject of the conference which will be held in Strasbourg from 11 to 13 October and which constitutes the European preparation, coordinated by the Council of Europe, to the World Conference Against Racism that the UN General Assembly has decided to hold in South Africa in 2001 (see EUROPE of 22 September, pages 6 and 7, regarding the EP's resolution). Mary Robinson, UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, Nicole Fontaine, European Parliament President, Anna Diamantopoulou, European Commissioner for employment, Benita Ferrero-Waldner, Austrian Foreign Minister and President-in-Office of the OSCE, and Gunter Grass, Nobel Prize for Literature, will participate in the Conference.
