12/04/2016 (Agence Europe) - EU calls for government to be formed soon. Maja Kocijancic, the Spokesperson for the EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Federica Mogherini, emphasised on Tuesday 12 April that the EU was hoping for a new government in Ukraine to be formed "very soon" after the resignation of Prime Minister Arseni Iatseniuk. She added that "It is very important that the reform process needed, especially in the economy, but also the political reforms, continue and that we see the progress necessary for the implementation of the Minsk agreements". The EU High Representative's spokesperson also welcomed the work achieved by the outgoing Prime Minister and explained "Even in very difficult circumstances the Prime Minister has accomplished very important work, especially on the reforms needed". The President of the Ukrainian Parliament, Volodymyr Groysman, an ally of the Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko, could possibly take over from Mr Iatseniuk. (CG)
