23/10/2015 (Agence Europe) - EU calls on all parties for dialogue. Concerned about the violence which followed the announcement, by the President of the Republic of Congo, Denis Sassou Nguesso, of a constitutional referendum, the EU has warned of the “risks for the stability of the country” and called on all parties for dialogue and adherence to the African Charter of democracy, elections and governance. “The freedom of expression and of association must be preserved. Violence can never be the answer to the challenges facing the country. Inclusive dialogue is the only way to re-establish a broad consensus on a question of such national interest as the revision of the constitution”, said the spokesperson to the High Representative of the EU Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Federica Mogherini.
