23/10/2015 (Agence Europe) - EIB loan guaranteed by EFSI of €250 million for offshore wind power in Belgium. The European Investment Bank (EIB) is to support the construction of the offshore wind farm Nobelwind, off the coast of Belgium, with a loan of €250 million, 40% of which will be guaranteed by the European Fund for Strategic Investments (EFSI). The total cost has been estimated at €670 million. 45 kilometres off the coast of Ostend and with a capacity of 165 MW (the equivalent of the energy consumption of nearly 186,000 households), Nobelwind will become the fourth largest offshore wind farm in the Belgian territorial waters. The project will also be the biggest so far supported in Belgium in the framework of the EFSI. (EH)
