12/10/2015 (Agence Europe) - EU solidarity for Chad, victim of terrorism. On Sunday 11 October, the European Union condemned the triple Islamic terrorist attack that left 37 people dead on Saturday in Baga Sola, Chad (Lake Chad region). The EU also provided the country with assurances that it would support it in its fight against terrorism. The EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Federica Mogherini, stated: “This attack follows the attack against Chad soldiers this week and represents a worrying attempt to destabilise the country”. She expressed her condolences to the families of the victims and Chad authorities and pointed out that “The EU remain steadfast in its support for Chad and the countries of the region in the fight against the threat of sectarian terrorism”. This contribution in particular can be seen in its multinational task force against Boko Haram and the EU Infrastructure Trust Fund for Africa, which has just been announced (see EUROPE 11385). (AN)
