12/10/2015 (Agence Europe) - Public radio broadcasters call for cultural diversity to be respected in TTIP. On Friday 9 October, the European Public Broadcasters (EBU) and the European Coalitions for Cultural Diversity (ECCD) called for the protection of cultural diversity and the principle of technological neutrality to be included explicitly in the final text of the Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership (TTIP). The organisations are also calling for a horizontal binding clause that would explicitly safeguard the freedom of EU countries to adopt measures promoting cultural diversity, including ensuring the capacity of audiovisual and media services to serve public interest goals. They also want an explicit reference to the exclusion of audiovisual services from the chapter on regulation because they believe the negotiating brief has only being clear on their exclusion from the chapter on investment.
