16/07/2015 (Agence Europe) - Child abuse. On Thursday 16 July, the European Commission sent a reasoned opinion to Greece, Italy, Portugal, Malta, Romania and Spain regarding the directive on the sexual exploitation of children and child pornography. The Commission accuses these countries of not having sent in their transposition measures for this directive. The directive dates back to 2011 and harmonises criminal sanctions. It also includes measures on banning child-related activities for people convicted of these crimes, and should have been implemented on 18 December 2013. The above-mentioned countries have not sent in their measures or adopted any legislation on this subject, the Commission states in its press release. (SP)
