25/03/2013 (Agence Europe) - Barroso postpones visit. The President of the European Commission has been obliged to postpone his official visit to Ulan Bator, which was scheduled for Saturday 23 March, due to the Cypriot crisis and the meeting of the Eurogroup the next day. In a press release, Barroso states that he had explained to President Tsakhiagiyn Elbegdorj that the on-going efforts to find a solution to the financial situation of Cyprus required his presence in Brussels. The head of the European executive also said that he hoped to reschedule his visit “at the earliest possible opportunity”. “Our relations are growing and we want to cement them with an early signature of the partnership and cooperation agreement”, he said. This new agreement will replace the current trade and cooperation agreement which has governed bilateral relations since 1993. (EH/transl.fl)
