20/01/2011 (Agence Europe) - Truffle growing. The first European Biennial Truffle and Truffle Cultivation Festival, held in Uzès in the department of the Gard, France on 14-16 January 2011, was attended by a large number of truffle growers from France, Germany, Hungary, Italy, Slovenia and Spain. The aim was to highlight the patient work required of truffle growers to produce quality truffles. European truffle growers held the General Assemblies of the European Truffle and Truffle Growers Group (GETT) and, along with their associated researchers and socio-professional players, of the European Truffle and Truffle Growers Network Consortium (CRETT). They laid the groundwork for the defence of the quality of European truffles, through specific recognition, and through the abandonment of use of (synthetic) truffle flavourings, and the definition of truffle plants and their quality.
