Brussels, 20/01/2011 (Agence Europe) - On 20 January, the European Commission authorised the investment capital funds CVC Capital Partners SICAV-FIS S.A. (Luxembourg) and Apollo Management L.P. (United States) to acquire the insurance and non-life re-insurance group Brit Insurance Holdings LTD (Netherlands). All three companies carry out direct or indirect activities in insurance or re-insurance, but the Commission notes that their activities would create only very small horizontal and vertical overlaps. It therefore took the view that this operation, which was notified on 6 December last year, would not hinder competition in the European Economic Area. (F.G./transl.fl)
