24/08/2010 (Agence Europe) - On Monday 23 August, the Briton Peter Griffiths was appointed to the head of the performance revision body of the single European sky programme, which aims to modernise air traffic management in Europe. The revision body, which was brought into being by the second single sky package, is to be an independent body with the mission of assessing the performance of the new air traffic management system in Europe. It will also be responsible for establishing binding quantitative objectives to be met by the whole of the EU for air navigation services in four areas pre-determined by the package (safety, environment, airspace capacity and profitability) (EUROPE 9689). Griffiths' mandate is for five years, to run until June 2015, which corresponds to the date of the first revision of the single sky performance schedule. (A.By./transl.fl)
