08/06/2010 (Agence Europe) - Condemning the attack by Israel on the flotilla carrying humanitarian aid to the Gaza Strip, European Economic and Social Committee President Mario Sepi said that this act had served only to increase the threat to the Palestinians of Gaza. He said that a serious inquiry was required to establish responsibility for this act of aggression, adding that it was time for Israel to respond to the international community's call to lift the blockade on the Gaza Strip once and to restore the Palestinian people's right to live in human dignity. Sepi called on all European and international authorities to take immediate action “to recognise the unacceptable misery, isolation and economic and social segregation in which the Palestinians of Gaza are condemned to live”.
