24/11/2009 (Agence Europe) - On Tuesday 24 November, the European Parliament approved several reports concerning the granting of macro-financial assistance to Serbia (report by Miloslav Ransdorf, GUE-NGL, Czech), Bosnia Herzegovina (report by Iuliu Winkler - EPP-ED, Romania), Armenia (report by Vital Moreira, S&D, Portugal), and Georgia (report by Moreira also). These proposals aim above all to meet the external financing needs of these countries' balance of payments. The procedure, to be endorsed by the Council very soon, will thus allow up to €200 million to be granted to Serbia (in the form of a loan), €100 million to Bosnia-Herzegovina (loan), €100 million to Armenia (of which €65 million in the form of a loan and €35 million in the form of a subsidy) and €46 million to Georgia (subsidy).
