(EU) EP/TURKEY: EP adopts report which remains very critical of progress of reforms and Customs Union, but is more qualified on Armenian genocide

Strasbourg, 27/09/2006 (Agence Europe) - On Wednesday, the European Parliament, by a large majority (429 votes for, 71 against, with 125 abstentions), adopted the report by Camiel Eurlings (EPP-ED) on Turkey. Just like the draft approved by the foreign affairs committee on 4 September (see EUROPE 9258) the report is openly critical of the “slowdown in reforms” in Turkey over the last year.
