01/10/2009 (Agence Europe) - The right of access to healthcare by people without the correct paperwork is flouted in Europe, explains Médecins du Monde (MDM) in recent research on the situation without the proper residence permits, particularly children and pregnant women. Based on an unpublished investigation carried out by the MDM non-governmental organisation into 1218 illegal immigrants in 31 cities in Switzerland and ten EU member states, nearly 72% of the immigrants' health problems were not being treated or not being properly treated. Only 48% of the pregnant women were receiving healthcare. For further information see: http: //http://www.medecinsdumonde.org (B.C./transl.fl)
