Brussels, 25/09/2009 (Agence Europe) - European social partners in the construction industry sector, namely the European Construction Industry Federation (FIEC) and the European Federation of Building and Woodworkers (EFBWW), presented their website on the application in practice of the “posted workers” directive in Europe (96/71/EC), on Friday 25 September in Brussels. The directive is one of the cornerstones of European legislation affecting the construction industry, one of the characteristics of which is a high level of workforce mobility, a joint FIEC/EFBWW press release states.
The site - http://www.posting-workers.eu - presents in a clear and user-friendly manner information on the applicable working conditions in the construction industry (minimum wages, working time, health and safety, etc) in the various member states of the European Union. This allows a worker hoping to work on a temporary basis in another member state to find all the relevant information (available in English and in most cases also in the national language). The website will be up and running as of 1 October 2009 and is the result of a social dialogue project co-financed by the DG Employment/Social Affairs at the European Commission. (G.B./transl.jl)
