05/08/2009 (Agence Europe) - On 28 July, European Data Protection Supervisor Peter Hustinx delivered an opinion on the proposal for a Council regulation amending regulation EC N° 881/2002 imposing restrictive measures against Al-Qaida and the Taliban. On 22 April, the Commission proposed a text to amend European legislation implementing the United Nations “terrorist list” in response to the Court of Justice ruling in the Kadi case in September 2008 (see EUROPE 9733). If adopted, this proposal will introduce clear listing and de-listing procedures for suspected terrorist organisations along the same lines as those followed for the EU's own “terrorist list” since the Court of Justice ruling on the PMOI (People's Mujahedin of Iran) case in December 2006.
