THE DAY IN POLITICS / (eu) ep/groups

16/07/2009 (Agence Europe) - The decision by UK Conservative Edward McMillan-Scott to run for the deputy presidency of the European Parliament has resulted in his expulsion from the Conservative and Eurosceptic ECR Group, which now has only 54 members. The ECR now is the fifth largest group, behind the Greens/EFA which has 55 members. EP Vice-President McMillan-Scott, who did not support the Conservatives' leaving the EPP, could now join that group. (O.J./transl.rt)
