Parliament elects its fourteen vice-presidents

Strasbourg, 15/07/2009 (Agence Europe) - On Tuesday 14 July, the European Parliament completed the election of its 14 vice presidents. In addition to three MEPs elected during the first round - Rodi Kratsa-Tsagaropoulou (EPP, Greece), Gianni Pittella (S&D, Italy) and Stavros Lambrinidis (S&D, Greece) - 11 other personalities were selected after the third round of voting by simple majority. Elected members are: Roberta Angelilli (EPP, Italy) with 274 votes, Isabelle Durant (Greens/EFA, Belgium) (276 votes), Silvana Koch-Mehrin (ALDE, Germany) (186 votes), Edward McMillan-Scott (ECR, UK) (244 votes), Miguel Angel Martinez Martinez (S&D, Spain) (327 votes), Dagmar Roth-Behrendt (S&D, Germany) (286 votes), Libor Roucek (S&D, Czech Republic) (278 votes), Pal Schmitt (EPP, Hugnary) (257 votes), Alejo Vidal-Quadras (EPP, Spain) (308 votes), Diana Wallis (ALDE, UK) (272 votes) and Rainer Wieland (EPP, Germany) (237 votes). Michal Kaminski (ECR, Poland) won only 174 votes and was not elected. (A.By./transl.jl)
