Fall in foreign investment in China continues but might stabilise. According to the Chinese department of trade, direct investment from abroad (DIA) in China stood at a total of $6.38bn in May, falling by 17.8% over the previous year. Over the five first months of the year, DIA reached $34.05bn, 20.4% less than over the same period last year. The fall in May was, however, less than that in April when it fell by 22.5%. DIA began to fall in China last October as a result of the economic and financial crisis. China does, however, remain one of the biggest recipients of foreign investment and experts state that the fall is expected to lessen off in the next few months. (I.L./trans/rh)
